Heavy Vehicle Rear Marker Plates Class (1/1A)
SIGN FUNCTION & DESCRIPTION
Conforming to AS4001. 1-2003 rear marker plates are retroreflective
yellow with distinctive red areas and/or black text providing enhanced
visibility, early recognition and identification of road vehicles over 12
tonnes GVM during day time and night time.
Rear marker plates with Class 1 retroreflective properties are available
on 1.6mm aluminium with rounded comers and mounting holes.
Revisions to AS4001. 1 now allow the use of pressure sensitive decals
manufactured using Class 1A retroreflective material for application
directly to a properly cleaned vehicle surface.

bands on strip plates must slope down and outward (away from the

CLEANING: The following solvents and cleaning materials will remove road grime
and dirt when wipeq, with a rag - petrol, 50% white spirit and 50%
toluene mix, white spirit, methylated spirit, diesel fuel, detergents.
Chemicals used other than those listed may cause softening or
dissolving of the surface of the plate and/or removal of the graphics
and text.

(Class 2)
SIGN FUNCTION & DESCRIPTION
Conforming to AS400 1.3-2003 rear marker plates are retroreflective yellow with distinctive red areas and/or black text providing enhanced visibility, early recognition and identification of road vehicles over 12 tonnes GVM during day time and night time.
Rear marker plates with Class 2 retroreflective properties are available
on 1.6mm aluminium or 1.2mm zinc-anneal with rounded corners
and mounting holes. Pressure sensitive decals are also available for
Cat 1 400x400mm Plain in l inc Anneal or Decal
application directly to a properly cleaned vehicle surface.

plates shall not be less than 0.32 m2 for a vehicle set. The colour
bands on strip plates must slope down and outward (away from the

Heavy Vehicle Oversize Plates
SIGN FUNCTION & DESCRIPTION
A vehicle carrying buildings, agricultural machinery, mining
equipment, building materials, etc that exceed the vehicles regulation
dimensions, are classed as oversize vehicles and can create a
hazard for motorists. Safety measures including pilot vehicles, escort
vehicles and correct signage for oversize vehicles are required by law.
Full range of oversize plates are available in retroreflective Class 2
on a range of materials and in various layout options, as listed below:

Hazchem Signs & Labels
SIGN FUNCTION & DESCRIPTION
Substances and articles that are potentially hazardous to people and
property are known internationally as dangerous goods. Special care
needed when transporting, handling and storing dangerous goods
prevent accidents and injury. All packages and containers, shipping
containers, unit loads, tankers, etc. must hold the correct class label
then transporting and handling dangerous goods. Buildings and
storage areas containing dangerous goods must display appropriate
labels, including HAZCHEM warning notices at all major vehicle
try accesses. The label (or diamond sign) identifies the hazard symbol, and the ciass of the goods by number.
CLASSIFICATIONS
Australia uses a system of classification based on a United Nations
system and that of other countries. Dangerous goods are divided into
nine classes, based on their hazardous properties as listed below:
Class 1 - Explosives
Class 2 - Gases: Compressed, liquified or dissolved under
pressure
